This gem of a phone has been overshadowed by Nokia's Lumia 925 event yesterday and that doesn't matter, this device will rake in huge sale figures for Blackberry. The Blackberry Q5 is the successor to the very popular Blackberry Curve. It carries the portrait Querty form factor that Blackberry knows how to deliver at an affordable price. It will come in red, white, black, and pink. There's just this lovely addition that BB have included in the package that no one else has been able to carry out successfully with a Querty - a touch screen. It runs BB's brand new operating system, BB10, built from the ground up for touchscreens with a huge focus on gesture input. As you would expect, BB10 has an unmatched notification center/system for social networking, possibly even the best. This combination could possibly make this device a hit, considering that it becomes available across all networks at an affordable price.
We haven't been given a date as to when the device will be on shelves, heck we don't even know if it will be on sale in the UK but so far we know it will be available in Europe by July and most likely in the UK considering how successful it has been here in the past.
Blackberry are fighting an up hill struggle to become relevant again and I believe they can be with devices like this so long as they retain a quality and standard that matches the competition - an area in which drove RIM down in spirals last year.
